Where is the Dawn?

The old saying, "It's darkest before the dawn," is an admirable attempt at hope. But it applies only to situations where we know there will be a dawn. Where, in any of Trump's, Vance's, and Musk's actions, are there any indications that dawn is coming? We tell ourselves it can not get any worse, and then Trump hands off his beer. Hell, on Friday, he handed off a keg. That is the cause of the Great Anxiety. We can't see the dawn. The only comfort I take from all of the insane behaviors of Trump, Vance, and Musk is that the World is seeing it televised in real time.

Hitler never had his bullying and boorish behaviors televised. Do you think the World would have stood by passively had it been? Maybe, maybe not. Indeed, the German people would have continued to support Hitler. Pre-WWII, Germany was angered and ashamed of the outcome of WWI. They would always support a man who displayed the same rage they felt over the shame they endured because of losing the war. In this way, the past is different from today.

MAGA supporters of today are full of rage not because of having lost anything but fear of losing their perceived position of entitlement. The threat of the loss of white rule scares them. Unlike Pre-WWII Germany, which had already lost, MAGA of today fears a loss that is mostly a product of their uneducated, shallow thinking. Considering how most of them treat minorities and that they cannot conceive of anyone in a minority position not being treated that way, it is understandable. They fear being treated in the same manner as they treated minorities.

The rise of Hitler and the Nazi and fascist movements are not unique in the annals of human history. However, it is unique in modern history with the advent of journalism. Hitler's use of lies and misinformation influenced radio and newspapers. The ordinary population had no other conduit of information. In today's World, that is no longer true. Bullying and boorish behaviors no longer happen behind closed doors. It is out there for all to see. And it has resulted in a fundamental change in how the World responds.

Hitler maintained his delusional stance right up to his suicide, to the detriment of Germany and the World. Will Trump, Vance, and Musk also maintain their delusional stances to the detriment of the United States and the World? That is why I cannot see a dawn at this moment.
